The MCR Mitchell Building at University College, Oxford has been shortlisted for an Oxford Preservation Trust in the Adaptive Reuse category!

The project involved installing a new internal lift and ramp to provide inclusive access to the first floor common room. The lift is designed to blend seamlessly with the historic fabric of the college, with a frameless glass lower shaft to retain sightlines, and an upper structure finished with timber fins and lead detailing to match the existing architectural language.

Careful design minimises the impact on the adjacent listed stone wall and surrounding trees, maintining the character and heritage value of the space.
