103 Colmore Row Artwork

Architects Doone Silver Kerr invited IJP Architects and artist John Pickering to realise a suspended sculpture in the winter garden of 103 Colmore Row, a landmark mixed-use development by Sterling Property Ventures in Birmingham, UK

Architects Doone Silver Kerr invited IJP Architects and artist John Pickering to realise a suspended sculpture in the winter garden of 103 Colmore Row, a landmark mixed-use development by Sterling Property Ventures in Birmingham, UK. Just a few days before Pickering suddenly passed away at the age of 79, he invited George L. Legendre to carry out the project. Pickering and Legendre imagined the sculpture titled Equinox as a suspended, lightweight web of light structure in the mould of Sou Fujimoto’s Naoshima Pavilion (Japan, 2013). Davies Maguire were commissioned to undertake the structural design of the artwork.
